I think what makes things so complex is the fact that the fire only emerges from the folds in the Balrog's skin, which is a pretty dynamical thing. Great effect!

)i mean, on the frist dvd out, which is what i saw they dont say much about it except that it is maya and it had a hw pass
how many passes/layers it has?
turbulence/control, what is the control scheme of the fire once it is been fired from the folds?
