Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

What I do is batch render my scene into jpg imadges and then import them as an imadge sequance using Quick Time Pro.

Yep. You're not going to find a better way then rendering a sequence and converting to a mov in another dedicated app.

Even though this has been said many times before: never ever render to some kind of video format directly from Maya. If something goes wrong along the way, all your already rendered frames will be lost.

Always render to some kind of image sequences and use an editing or compositing app to turn this sequence into a video format.

If you need to encode to the AVI format, you can try this little but very usefull freeware app, called VirtualDub: https://fcchandler.home.comcast.net/stable/
(Note: this is a customized version that also accepts MPEG2 files)

If you're willing and able to pump out some money to get your hands on a dedicated, professional encoding software, Discreet's Cleaner XL might be the way to go. It supports all the usual suspects (format-wise). Go here: https://www4.discreet.com/cleanerxl/
