Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

modeling

Hey, I'm just starting to experiment with Maya and I don't know a lot. Can you give me some tips on how to model?

How do I build a skeleton? I can't get the joints to go in the right spots. Any tips?

once a joint is placed, press the insert key and you'll be able to move that joint independantly of the chain.

to connect 2 joints, select the one you want to be connected, shift select the one you want it to connect to, and press the "p" key. This parents it, making the connection in the hierarchy.

you can buy Learning Maya 5 | Foundation, it's a great book with a DVD. If you have Maya 6 i think they got the same book for Maya 6. So if you want to learn, read, read, read and read... ...you can download video on Simplymaya too ( i hope i will get some points user added image )
