mentalRay not available

Warning: The renderer, mentalRay, used by this scene, is not currently available. The Maya Software renderer will be used instead.

This message occurs in every new scene I create. If I close it and open a scene where I allready used MR and after that reopen the new scene, MR is available then.

even in the preferences the only available renderers are software and hardware renderer. no MR nor vector renderer.

is it a software prob with maya or are there some settings which I haven´t found yet?
