Most of you will probably laugh...

... but as Kurt said during the Tutorial, "post your work on SM" so here it is, my first model. It's taken me a while to do it all in very small chunks, and with limited time I constantly had to redo bits for me to feel happy with it. I've had no real trouble during the tutorial, its only when I was attempting to render I found a problem with my sub-d surface on the dog. The script editor said there was a problem with one of my quads, that probably explains why my sub-d wouldn't show in the renders. Any chance anyone can enlighten me on how to specifically seek the problem areas?

In the meantime here is Mr Dog in poly (+nurbs). Many thanks Kurt - wonderful tutorial which has helped me to understand the basics. Uploaded bigger, brighter image.

Looks good to me. If your trying to render with MentalRay, it will not take subD's with none quad faces. At least on V5.

...and the Golden Puppy Award goes to....

seriously. Looks fine. You'll have to find the offending face. Does the script editor identify which face(s)? Maybe a face number that you can search for?

Thats a good point mhcannon, I shall check for it! And yeah Pony im fiddling around a lot at the moment, especially mental ray properties. Would like to take some renders with it in sub-d, so I hope I can find the little blighters user added image

Any bewildered noob should download this tutorial - learning a bit of nurbs + polys + sub-d will help you to feel far more comfortable in the maya interface. It all begins to make a lot of sense quickly when you are taken right through a process.

Thanks for the comments guys!

Hey Kurt, in a slightly odd way it feels almost like I already know you! I've been listening more to you that I have my own family recently! Very honoured to have you even post here, it's like meeting Kevin Smith after watching Jay and Silentbob. Glad you like my attempt, I will post my progress on the forums, so I hope you grace another of my threads later on when I have gained some more experience.

Many thanks again go to Kurt, Mike and all the others that put in the work to make this place such a professional and respectful community.
