Hi, Dr. Nick! (sorry couldn´t resist).

On a serious note, the videos that come up when you start Maya are indeed good in order to get started (as Alienscience says), and also there are a lot to learn from free tutorials, written or video, from this site and others. Won´t link any, because that would be rather rude user added image

And once you have the basics down, you´ll probably have a clearer idea of what you want to learn, so at that point you could consider buying some of the (very good) video tutorials here.

And finally, just try some stuff. It´s amazing how much you can learn on your own just by fooling around with the program.

And welcome to the site, I´m sure you will enjoy this place (I certainly do).

Cheers, MX.

You should download the first tutorial called "Cartoon Dog" by Kurt Boutilier from this site. He does alot of shape shifting. However, it may be hard for you to follow if you don't speak good English ,but you may pick up some basics.

Good luck!
