selection shortcut?

hello,

I have just made the move from 3DS Max(7) to Maya(6) and i am still getting acquainted with the interface, is their a selection tool that alows you to select 1 edge of a cylinder's cap subdivision(or any geometry for that matter), then hit ring or loop to select all edges on that subdivision?

thanks in advance

Try going to Edit Polygons--> Selection-->Select continuous edges.

This doesn't always work.

There is a great plugin on www.highend3d.com called MJPolyTools. It has an option to select a ring/loop of faces and a lot of other VERY useful modeling tools...

hey lookey

thanks for the help, i found "Edit Polygons--> Selection-->Select continuous edges" to be of some use, but the MJPolyTools are great, gives me all my favourite tools and saves a lot of time.

once again, thanks heaps
