This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with
complex objects.
Iv'e modeled a left boot which has been converted from poly's to sub d's.I now want to mirror it so as to have a right boot using sud d surfaces>mirror geometry but I get an error message saying"select a subdivision surface whose geometry you want to mirror" even though the object is already selected.
In an earlier file Iwas able to mirror a low poly boot but it attaches itself to the mirrored object even though 'merge with original is turned off in the options box.
Is there any reason why you would not just covert your SubD back To Poly, and go Polygons> Mirror Geometry, then Convert Poly to SubD again? That is if SubD Mirror does not work.
Did you model something in SubD that you would lose if you converted back to Poly? I'm not sure if it made a difference. Of course you can always do the standard Duplicate function, then merge vertices, but that seems unituitive.
