newbeeeee!

Ok, i'm trying to use basic floor plans to model a house (walls and stuff) but I find currently tedious. Does anyone know if there is any tool within Maya that will allow me to trace the wall lines and create Polygons from them instead of the the Create polygon tool.

Sort of a draw on top tool that will extrapolate into polygons.

Just curious

You could use the EP curve tool or the CV curve tool.

You might also import .ai files which will translate to curves.

I've been trying to do almost the exact same thing, take an .ai file with a few closed curves in it, for extruding purposes. But I can't seem to get them to extrude properly! I have a closed semi-circular shape with a another shape like it inside of it's borders, but when I try to "attach" them, I get this wonky shaped thing. I just want an extruded circle with a hole in the middle! Is there any way to do this in maya? Beyond booleaning the polys after the fact i mean.

Make sure both are closed curves. select the interior curve then shift select the exterior curve, then use bevel plus to extrude them out and cap them.
