strange triangles on model

hello

i borrowed my mates dvd of danger mouse and while watching it it tried to make his car. i get these triangles that apear darker on the side of the car and on the wheels any ideas how to clean it up.

Okay, one of two issues:

1) Go to display -> Polygon Components -> Normals -- make sure they're all facing outwards.
2) Press spacebar, edit polygons, normals, set to face (then resmooth your object)
