I wouldn't base your employment on a specific program
Most studios use various software, not just one. Some even use their own (non commercial) software.
Best qualifications? The best qualification is to be good. How you get good depends on the way you learn best. Do you need to be in a college like enviroment with tutors, or can you teach your self? Only you can decide whats best for you.
With regards to courses, it depends what you want to do (modelling, animation, texture, visual effects etc). Would you want to take a general computer graphics course, or say an animation specific class? Would you want to do a degree or a short course?
I personally think it's important that the course also emphasises art and design fundamentals as this will help you in almost every aspect of 3D.
