how to combine or merge multiple poly faces

hi, is there any way to combine or merge multiple ( 2 or more) poly faces into 1 face?

eg: like below? left rect (before) right rect (after)

Go in edge mode -- select the edges inbetween the faces, delete.

You may then want to go into vertex mode and see if there's any dots in the middle of nowhere caused by that... I can't remember whether or not it cleans up the orphaned vertices or not.

Tip: Get into the habit of using edit polygons -> delete edge as this removes the vertices as well. Look into adding a shortcut into your custom shelf so you can easily use it.
Simply pressing delete leaves the vertices in the model which can be bad later on.
