simplifyign the hypergraph

I have created an object from a load of primitive cylinders and spheres, and merged them all together using booleans->union, however in the hypergraph, although there is now only one object, that object appears as a long list of cylinder1_transform and so on. how can I just merge all of this into one simple object?
