or you could dive in and do it hardcore style - notepad or Vim

There are a fair few free web-based wysiwyg editors but it depends on what you're going to do.
For example www.fckeditor.net is cool for adding into pages where you want to generate html.

T1ck, I am actually just trying to set up a website to show some of my (non-existant) work. As I have mentioned a dozen times I am not too hot with computers, so your offer of help is much appreciated. I have only just discovered html, so it may be some time before I blow your minds.

HTML's really good, if you wanna make a site look good quick, try using CSS as these work as templates for your pages, also as your just getting into it have a look at XHTML as this is superseeding HTML as per WWWC

All XHTML does is seperate the data from the presentation, the language is a little different but its not too bad. also XSL is coming in so its worth knowing in the long run.

Sorry for babbleling on wiht so many TLA and FLA's (three letter Acronym's and four letter Acronym's) but I got told once by a sucessfull guy that these are the terms that baffell managers and get you a good wage, as you might be describing a 5 pence switch with a mad acronym so he thinks its a cutting edge bit of technology!!

https://www.nvu.com/ is a good free HTML editor with a WYSIWYG interface.

Did you manage to decide on a laptop yet gster123? I am also planning on buying a laptop as I currently share my computer. I've been looking at the Dell m70, Alienware and Boxx. Dealing with Dell is a pain and they only seem to sell the M70 to small businesses though I am sure you can get around that. I am really tempted to go with Boxx though, as my main workstation is a Boxx and it is the business. It's just that they are so expensive....
