Polygon faces disappearing

Hi guys just been modelling a polygon hand when I realised that the geometry disappeared when I looked at it from different angles, then reappeared when I moved back to the previous angles

and from underneath you can see the top geometry clearly, any ideas on what could be causing this, thanks callum

even in the render view it doesnt recognize the faces user added image

try this
Edit polys/normals/Reverse

tried that and it just flips the parts that I can see and makes them invisible and makes the stuff I couldnt see visible thanks for the reply though

just found out it only does it to polygon, not nurbs, if that narrows the problem down to some specific tools please tell

Well cant u do that techniques but just select the faces that arnt showing?

its ok now I reinstalled again making wsure to delete all the prefs it left behind and it worked:attn: woo hoo thanks magicsy for help
