There are enough faults in this model and render to go round. It is however the first car I have made and I am quite pleased with it.
What I am trying to focus on here is the rendering, as I know squat about proper lighting and rendering, so could really do with any and all suggestions that you guys might have for me..
Thanks,
mic
EDIT: Thanks very much to Robert for the tutorial. Excellent, I learnt a ton of good stuff.
when you open the door, the rear corner class comes with it as well. there is no seperation from the end of the window on the door to where the rear corner glass starts.
worst of all, no side view mirrors! it makes driving in traffic hell, trust me.
also
why does the side of the car look like there are a ton of spots where the paint is gone or sanded off.
looks spotted. i would fire that bodyshop if they painted my car.
I would suggest figuring out first whether you'll be using mental ray or maya software first. If you decide to go with mental ray you have a few options (final gather, HDRI, Global ilumniation)...you need to do lots of reading...
There is a great book called "Learning Maya 5: Rendering". I highly recommend you read it
Im going to sound like a dog with a bone here. Why MR?
Its a great looking model, but if there is no understanding of MR why not stick with spotlights?!!
I see this time and time again on this forum, FG, GI blah blah...but the renders are not great. Dont get me wrong, I understand MR is a great piece of Kit in addition to MAYA but seeing some of the stuff here I think could be rendered better with a 3 point light setup with raytraced 'soft shads'. Get an understanding of lighting set ups before bogging yourself down with the 'latest' thing.
I dont want to take away how much effort has gone into the car but these things need to be taken into account...
