Abmient Occlusion Shader

Hey Gang, so I'm using Maya 6.5 and I'm trying to create an abient occlusion pass for an indoor environment. I've set up the shader by plugging the mib_amb_occlusion node into a surface shader. However, everything looks fine if I hide the ceiling, but once I turn it on I get a black environment. Is there any way to do Anbient Occlusion for indoor spaces?

Thanks,

You could place an area light in your interior scene and place it above your modeled geometry and experiment with your light settings.
