HOW TO USE AFTER EFFECTS?

I am starting to use after effects and am baffled where to start. Just got over the shock of using Maya after all this time, now ive gotta get used to another programme! lol

Anyone got any starting tips of how it works and how to begin compositing my animations?

Thanks
