Animating: pass-thru, not colliding! HELP!

URGENT - !
I want the ball to hit the door as it comes out of the tube, so that the door falls over, but the ball is passing right through the door as if the door is transparent. HELP! I'm going crazy trying to figure this simple thing out!

Thanks!

(Bonus question: Why, when I click on the View Compass, does my project now disappear into oblivion?). Can't figure out that either. View compass is noticeable screwed up because it has a similar effect on my previous projects now too.

did you set them up as rigid bodies?

Yes, I should have mentioned...I did set up the door as an active rigid body. Also, the ball is as well. The ball already spins in a bowl and lands in a tube which shoots it out to hit the top of the door, but the door I created and assigned a "active rigid body" acts as if it is transparent because the ball goes right through it. I also have assigned gravity to ball and the door; the door simply stands on it's own.

Any ideas?
Thanks so much for your help I really appreciate it!

Im having the exact same problem but i am trying to keyframe a character knocking something over, thus combining keyframing joints with dynamics....im stuggling too......as soon as i suss it, i will let you know.

But with yours, it should be pretty straight forward. Seems like you did everything. Obviously something we are both missing
