I did the ears on that on purpose actually so they stand out more than "normal".

I will try to see how he looks with a more red skin texture, might be cooler.

The thing I dislike the most is that he looks almost like he's made of stone. Some nice SSS would be nice to have... but that might have to wait for another time when I have the knowledge/computer power/time.

Another idea that may look cool is to add a slight point to his ears. That way, since you wanted them to be noticeable, it'll give them a little bit more of a way to stand out. And, you're right, he does kinda have that 'stone' look. But, since you obviously put so much time and effort into the texturing, why not use that to your advantage? Try and give him more of a stone/granite color, and you've got 1 bad @$$ gargoyle come to life!

Just an idea...

Nice work DJ - I think this is looking pretty cool. I Like the yellow light that you've thrown on it. it might be cool to push it in the stone gargoyle direction as well though i kind of like the reddish skin.

I think what is bothering me about the ears is the top ridge - I think I might fatten up the width a bit at the top.

thanks for the input guys, I think I might try to give the ears a pointy look. But I'm more into a fleshy feeling than stone, so no statue this time user added image

Here's another render with the standard devil red.

Yeah, that looks pretty awesome. Have you tried a deeper red? That might look cool, too. I was thinking the horns would look sweet if they were a shiny black, but then I think it'd be hard to see all of the texture work you put into them. In any case, it's looking really cool! And, I think the pointy ears will add so much more to it, IMHO.

I actually think the horns doesn't match the red skin, so I'll try black horns. Also the white in the eyes looks a bit out of place.. so I'll try red there too.

Here's an update with black horns and reddish eyes. Haven't touched the ears yet.

IMO I reckon that you should try to keep some human bits to the eyes, just to give the hybrid/human thing to it, maybe very vainey?

Whoa, it's looking pretty damn sweet! It was good thinking to make the horns black, definitely IMHO. I was wrong, the texture still shows, and it actually looks better. It's really coming together now!

hehe... very cool... I like the eyes. However I rather keep the face in a neutral state, so that it's easy to rig it later if I want to.
