beard question

hi
i've learnt how to create a beard thanks to Kurt's santa tutorial, one question though, how should i attach this to the geometry, i mean should i merg the verts or combine the head gemetry to the beard geometry?, which method would give me the least trouble for when i later texture my model?

I haven't done that tutorial so I might be way off the mark here... but if you were going to merge the verts you would need to combine the beard and head geometry anyway. I don't think that keeping it seperate or combined will make much difference when you come to texturing, as you will probably want to map the UVs for the beard on their own anyway.
