I will differently start to play around with my lighting and I'll start by using your examples. I wouldn't have guessed it was my lighting that was creating the poor shadows. I definetly need to study lighting a lot more like you suggest. Thanks!

Since I've started this project I have noticed that I am starting to examine the lighting where ever I go. Modelling tends to change your perspective on things the more you model it seems. user added image

Instead of doing the trees and flora, I'm currently slowly hammering away at the texturing process, which is probably the area I'm least confident with, so it has been a slow, but good learning process. I'm about to tackle the shingles soon.

I'm going to mess around with the rockgen script tonight when I get the time. That looks like it definetly could be useful to me. I downloaded it yesterday, but didn't have a chance to play with it. Thanks for that find!

For various reasons, I decided to make the switch to Blender which means that there won't be anymore updates for this project. One of which was that I was only borrowing a copy of Maya to see if it would be worth purchasing and after some use I decided it cost just way to much for me. I really liked it, but I'll have to wait for awhile yet before I can make the leap back to it. I apologize to those who might have been following this WIP.
