Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

hi Rachel,

the 3ds export is not under the bonus tools menu but should be added to the plugins once the bonus tools have been installed so you have to go to Window the Settings/Preferences and at the bottom of the list you will find the Plug-in Manager.
Look for 3dsImport.mll and load that and you will then have the option to export to 3ds when exporting.

regards J.S.

erm, its kind of not there? I could export my file as a DXF and that would b okay too, but its refusing to do that, it will export as OBJ but thats useless to me. its a very large file. Could this be why it won't export? And, any tips on fining the export 3ds. I've imported them before, but never exported...
