Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

kitchen

I am modeling my kitchen and would like feedback on how its looking so far.I textured the walls to add contrast so you can see the modeled pieces better.

Looks good to me, so far!

Are you planning to add more? Like perhaps a refridgerator (sp?) to the right of the cabinets? Maybe an island? Miscelaneous "prop" objects like a bowl filled with fruit, kitchen knives, a chopping board and more?

Aaaah, looking better already, with the 'fridge and the microwave...small "clutter" objects really help give things their own life, sometimes ^_^

EDIT:

Holy heck, I just came back (a few hours later) and noticed the slight reflection on the floor tiles...very nice touch!

That's not a 'slight' reflection, that's a mirror image. Tone down the reflectivity of the floor tiles.

Texturing the walls didn't make anything any easier to see, but the contrasting helped.

Glad to see the lighting improved in the second shot.

Hit the other parts with some kind of textures. Get them out of the default 50% gray. I like to use a medium blue. It's just bright and dark enough to show off the details.

Sure you would, because you're a No0b. user added image

It's a common noobie mistake to make things too reflective. I see it all the time in my classes. "Oh, it looks cool like that!" or "Reflectivity is awesome!" But real world observation is key when trying to duplicate it.

First thing: It's a kitchen, and no one in their right mind would put down tiles that are smooth enough to skate on. Kitchens come with tile that is purposefully "rough" to avoid slipping and breaking your neck.

Second: Unless it's glass, a mirror, or chrome - nothing reflects like a mirror. So unless it's a mirror, turn down the reflectivity.

If you turn in something like this on a demo reel, chances are they will eject the CD. But it's obviously at an early stage right now, so let's wait and see.
