Error: line 1: Can't ungroup leaf-level transforms

hi

does anybody know how i can fix this problem
it seems that if i want to import .ai files from illustrator into maya i get this error

pv_performAction "C:/Documents and Settings/psql/Bureaublad/testimages/face.ai" "Best Guess";
file -import -type "Adobe(R) Illustrator(R)" -rpr "face" "C:/Documents and Settings/psql/Bureaublad/testimages/face.ai";
ungroup transform16;
// Error: line 1: Can't ungroup leaf-level transforms //
// Result: C:/Documents and Settings/psql/Bureaublad/testimages/face.ai //
// Result: 1 //

How come does anyone have an idea on this one

I found the following instructions (at https://www.gamasutra.com/features/20...graber_pfv.htm):

"Import into Maya

Use the following as a guide to import your Illustrator files into Maya:

In Maya, use meters (depending on your project, this may change).
Select “Import Options” and choose Illustrator as the file type.
Use this magic number as a scale factor -- 25401.9"

When saving as an Illustrator file, save it as a version 10 file.
Uncheck all options there are.
