This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i
Hi im using Maya 8.5 and for some reason am having problem texturing a simple CUBE in the shape of a plank of wood.
My aim is to take this simple cube layout into photoshop and paint a wood texture in form of a plank, as i am modelling a crate.
The problem is, when i create my uv's, i deselect the object, then reselect so its green (8) on keyboard. I go to window > UV texture editor to see my progress, i get an error.
This never used to happen in Maya 7.
Am i being totally dense or do i take it there is another way of creating UV's in 8.5
Any help (ANY) is much much appreciated. im stuck. Any texture artists out there, help me out.
Thanx guys
:headbang:
those who succeed are only the failures that never gave up.
the way i done it in maya 7 was in the UV texture editor i would select all the UV's the go file ->make map/export uv or whatever its called
may be different in 8.5
One way to texture a plank is; selecting the faces of the four sides (excluding the top and bottom sides) then go to Edit polygons > texture > cylindrical mapping.
Go to window > uv texture editor and scale and position the selection to fit anywhere in the gray area.
Select the top and bottom faces of the plank and go to Edit polygons > texture> Planar mapping > []. In the options change mapping direction to "Y" then click project.
In the uv texture editor scale and position that selection to fit in the gray area. The selection may look like one face (one rectangle) but it is actually 2 faces on top of each another.
Select the entire plank then In the uv texture editor, select Polygons > uv snapshot. select where it should be saved using the browse button, select the resolution (size X & size Y), the select image format.
Carry that snapshot file into Photoshop to do your texturing.
I use Maya 6. I am hoping they didn't change too much in version 8.5, but the technique should be the same..It works for me...
Hope this helps and good luck!.
