This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Here's a vase I have. It should also contain a plant.

This was a pretty tricky one to model actually since the spiral is "hollow" and connects to the vase... so if you pour water into the top opening it will go round the spiral and out on the bottom opening onto the table. (Not that that would be of any good use user added image

Rendering times doesn't get affected that much, probably about the same as other render engines.

Ok, so here's two really wide angle views. The lighting isn't very realistic - there are no roof - to speed up the render times. And the carpet material somehow got screwed up.

looks real good,
Don't know if you did it already (maybe the lighting washed it out), but i would do a bumpmap on the floor and maybe an occlusion pass, but other than that excellent user added image

thnx guys,

here's a wire and some stats... 2.1 million triangles, yeah baby yeah!

No problems for my new computer though. To see how much it can handle I duplicated some meshes so I had 7 millions triangles and then it became a little sluggish but still usable.

Im loving it, only crit would be that the windows are too blown out. But as you've said the lighting is not realistic, its still good user added image
