Cant save an MA file

hey guys,
for some reason, if i try to save or export as an MA is spits out the error: Maya contains unknown nodes or data. to preserve this information, the current file type can not be changed.

its annoying, because i wanted to try converting an MA file to an older maya version using the notepad method.

anybody know?

You can still change it, but it won’t always work. Just open it up, hit the find thing, and change the version numbers. Watch the numbers to make sure they’re the right ones though.

You could always try OBJ but you will lose any group info and it will spit it out as a single object which you will have to seperate again and rename if it works.
