Introduction to Maya - Rendering in Arnold
This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Importing Studio model

Hi guys,
I have a model created in Alias Studio 10.0 and I want to import it into Maya 4.5. I want the shaders and lights to go with it. How do I do that? I guess I need a plugin of some sort. I looked through Alias Wavefront´s webpage, but couldn't find any.

I guess I'm just lazy, but I don't wan't to create the shaders again in maya.

How did you export the model? What format?

I did export it as an IGES file. I was told that it is a generic format for wireframes that don't save shaders. The same person also told me I probably needed some plugin to bring the shaders to Maya as well.

Since both programs are made by Alias Wavefront there should be some easy way of importing models from Studio Tools into Maya. The shaders have almost the exact same parameters, so the shaders can manually be transfered. However, the model has a lot of shaders, and I'm looking for a quicker way.

And of course there was a simple sollution to the problem. If I only had checked the plugin list in the plugin manager more careful I would have noticed the plugin studioimport. That was all that was needed.
