Snapping objects

Please someone yet again im going mental how the hell do i keep an object in place at a set pivot point and connect another part of the object to its side ive been using snaps etc but it doesnt work i almost need o keep the pivot locked

Pleaseeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee

Hello,

I'm not sure if quite get what your asking, but i'm quite sure the 'Snap together tool' is what your looking for.

Simply go to: Modify>> Snap together tool. The click at the point on the first object (The object you want to align with another object) then click on the point of the object you want the first object to snap to.

You should see a blue arrow showing the path the object will traval, then just hit enter. This always works for me.
