Beer glass scene creation
This course contains a little bit of everything with modeling, UVing, texturing and dynamics in Maya, as well as compositing multilayered EXR's in Photoshop.

Probably a stupid question but...

I'll ask it anyway. I'm fairly new to Maya, and having worked through most of the Learning Maya tutorials, I'm trying to make something of my own, namely a simple animation of a mostly polygon robot. I've modeled it successful, and even animated it, but I've been having problems with texturing. I've got a satistfactory metal texture for him, but whenever I render, the grid keeps being reflected on his surface. I've tried hiding the grid, but to no avail. Is there anyway to prevent the grid from being reflected, or am I going to have to put a floor under him to block it?

sounds like you're using the chrome texture that comes with Maya. You might be better off using a different chrome shader, such as something you might could download here or at other sites like www.highend3d.com

No, actually I'm using a modified version of one of the aluminum shaders there.
