Complex UV Layout in Maya

dumb question but help ?

okay so i want to start modeling a shoe .

i created the planes, opened hypershade created lambert

and put the image of the front shoe on it and then applied it to the plane

for some reason the image is not centered on the plane

i know this is probably basic problem but i dunno ho to solve it plz help ?

use the help docs!
planar project the surface and modify positioning with the placement node attached to your image file.
