Pivot Location stuck at 0,0

Hey guys, I started a new scene and have been having issues with center pivots. Regardless of where my object was created the pivot always goes back to 0,0. That's not the problem as I can re-center the pivot from the menus no problem. But when I want to edit verts on say a tube so a round of them if I create an edgeloop or even select a loop of verts the center point goes off to 0,0 and scaling is very skewed. Any idea how to get my pivot back to the center of selected verts and maybe even have the pivot go back to object center after it is created?

Ok scratch that, it seems to be defaulting to a random irrelevant location.
So I really have no idea why or how it got there. Any ideas anyone?

Well I did fix it, but only by deleting my maya Preferences physically so that it had to re-create them as I go. A shitty way to do it, but it needed a solve and nothing else I could find was doing it.
If anyone figures it out please let me know or post it here. Thanks!

If you get strange prblems its best off deleting your prefs, I once managed to get nothing to work, and I mean nothing as I was messing about creating a custom shatter script which managed to mess everything right up!!

P.S - Theres no need to post multiple threads
