Face texture mapping from 2 Photos

Hi

I made a 3D face model and now I want to texture map it. I should build the texture map from 2 images taken by digital camera, one from front and the other one from the right side of an actor's face.

Can I do this in Maya ? How? I'm somehow new with texture mapping and don't know much about that.user added image

Thank you

You will need to use projection mapping, and Photoshop or another graphic editor to paint out the seams.

This is a great dvd that walks you through the process of combining multiple face images into one face texture map:

first you need to UV map your head - which basically involves flattening out you mesh in the UV texture editor. Then you take this map into photoshop where you can paint a texture for your head using your front and side photos.

this is a good UV mapping tutorial:

thks Aran and onyx86

yeah, these turorials are good. but is there any way to paint on the UV map automatically , not using Photoshop or other graphical softwares ? a Mel script which handles automatic texture mapping ? ?
since for my application, I need to do the texture mapping without the user's help .

thank you

whatever you do you're going to need to uv map your head - if you want to paint directly onto the model you could use zbrush or body paint - not sure what you mean when you say you don't want to use 'graphical software'...
