How to make a Decent block of metal. :)

Hi, my names Neil

Im fairly new to maya so theres plenty for me to learn user added image
However, recently i was trying to make a simplepoly box resemble a block of metal.
I eventually came up with this, and there is probably a much better way to do it, to make it more realistic, Just follow the steps below :

1. Create a polygon box

2. Select the box

3. Select in the "Edit Mesh' Menu in the polygon tab

4. Select "Bevel"

5. Once the "Bevel" has been applied, Goto the "Mesh" Menu

6. Select Smoothe.

And then your Poly Box Should resemble a nice smoothe block of metal. Let your imagination find its applications. user added image

If any one has a more effective way to do this please reply

whats really going to make any box look the way you want it to is its texture. look up some tutorials on texturing and try and make some simple stuff and post your results!
