This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Error message when using MR contribution maps and area lights

I keep on getting this warning everytime i try and assign area lights into a contribution map in Maya 2009.

// Error: Cannot convert data of type int[] to type float

Does anyone know what integer is is talking about?

Not a clue I'm afraid but it looks like it is trying to convert a group of whole numbers (int[]) into either a single or group of floating point numbers, so look for data that would need specific float numbers as opposed to just whole numbers.

Not hugely helpful but something to think about.

thanks for taking the effort to reply.

After :headbang: i realised that one of the area lights had been duplicated. Not a major problem you would think but the original had use light shape ticked under the MR tab in the attribute editor. When the light is duplicated it still shares the originals MR light locator. Two lights with one locator referencing both translations = not happy.

So as a more simple explanation i just created a new area light
