ICARUS - Interactive Calibration and Reconstruction from Image Sequences

This is wicked! Free (for non-commercial use) motion tracking software compatible with Maya and a number of other highend apps. I noticed it's being used by some people over at theforce.net for their fan films....from what I've seen, it looks good, too.

Hello, I use Icarus and Bouju 1.3. Both work great. Especially Icarus, considering its free. But... Bouju is alittle more user friendly. And as you may or may not know, Much much more costly. My 2Cents,
Brian

Are there any major differences between the two as far as difficulty levels or quality?

i reckon ICARUS has more features, the only reason i mentioned maya live is because it comes with maya unlimited, live was designed for match-moving and thats it (to my knowledge at least)
the camera match move in icarus seems very awkward compared to live, so naturally icarus is harder to learn, but then thats just my opinion

Yeah, I have maya 4.0 unlimited which has live. That's why I was curious about the difference....thinking that maybe ICARUS was better than Maya Live. Maybe I can test drive both at some point.

if you have the time and patience and u want expandability, go with icarus user added image
but try out live, theres a tut that comes with maya and its pretty good at showing basically what live does, simple motion tracking

If you guys can get ahold of Bouju 1.3 or 2.0, You should definetly try that out. Its a piece of cake! Very very easy to use, compared to others on the market, and usually gives nice results, at least as long as your footage is in Frame mode, not interlaced.
