Maya 2020 fundamentals - modelling the real world
Get halfway through a model and find it's an unworkable mess? Can't add edge loops where you need them? Can't subdivide a mesh properly? If any of this sounds familiar check this course out.

passive rigid bodies - odd things going on

I'm working on a simple animation to get 2 models (aeroplane and ground plane) to react against each other - i.e when they collide one bounces off the another.

I have tried to make a simple model group (a nurb object and some polygon objects) in to a passive rigid body (PRB), but I get an error.

I select the model group, soft/rigid bodies, create PRB, but no joy!

I created the model in Maya Complete then tranferred to a machine running Unlimited. Does this make a difference?

I re-created (in Unlimited) a rough prototype of the model, and the ground plane, created a PRB, animated it and it worked perfectly.

Can anyone help?

i dont think you can swap between complete and unlimited cause they have differences in the programs and a different code

Thanks for wasting your time reading this line.

maybe its your group node? try converting the nurbs part of the plane to polys, then combine the poly objects to get one piece of geomettry
set the ground plane to be a passive rigid body, then the airplane to be an active rigid body (i think u missed this step out)
now apply some gravity, turbulence or any fields you want to the plane, and when it collides with the ground it shud bounce
