Maya2012 - objects light up yellow

So i started to model a second robot model [slightly more fun than guns, more of a challenge] and I pressed some key or other and now my model lights up yellow and when I try to resize like 1 face with the resize tool the whole model resizes even though i have only 1 face selected

it looks like this

user added image

anyone know how to turn this off?

thanks

don`t think thats the softselection so pressing B will not help here.

But I don`t know what you have done

It could also be the new feature of maya 2012, the yellow dotted previz scale, this new feature visualizes how the model would look in a different scale whilest being in componentmode......... superhandy

Because at default the section is a flame like pattern (yellow 2 black - see faq) and if he has noy turned it on himself i dout he changed the settings

Hi Tweety, that depends on how big the object and the corresponding radius of the softselect is.
Press and hold B and drag the MMB, you"ll see then user added image

If it is not soft select then it could be he has turned reflection on. Reflection turns all affected vertices yellow. Hold the left mouse button and the w key together a marking menu will open up and on top is reflection. Make sure it is not checked.

It's just the softselect guys...just press B and it's gone, reflection does turn the affected components yellow but since he only selected a face ( see his screengrab) that would only affect the toprow of vertices not the entire model....
