Introduction to Maya - Modeling Fundamentals Vol 2
This course will look in the fundamentals of modeling in Maya with an emphasis on creating good topology. It's aimed at people that have some modeling experience in Maya but are having trouble with complex objects.

Thanks so much, those booleans are definitely tricky. It's working now.
Is there a technique to get rid of border edges? Instead of starting with a bridge then a fill hole using your first way of dealing with holes, I did six bridges but even though each corner is sharing the same vertices as the adjacent corner, the borders would stay border edges, therefore I could not create an edge loop around the hole for smoothing.

The two work flows I demonstrated are the most efficient that I know of.

If you try to perform multiple bridges you get the results you mentioned, the corner verts will be merged but the adjacent edges will not and you will then have to go around selecting pairs of border edges and performing a merge edge operation.
