Complex UV Layout in Maya
Over the last couple of years UV layout in Maya has changed for the better. In this course we're going to be taking a look at some of those changes as we UV map an entire character

Polygons turning transparent?

user added image

Polygons become transparent after extrude, and the only way I have found to solve this matter is by reopening the file. Even toggling to wireframe then back to shade doesn't work.

Is there any other way to fix this problem please (other than reopening the file every so often)?
Any help is much appreciated.
Thanks.

same thing happens to me every now and again, don't know what causes it, but I just reassign the shader when it happens

do you have backface culling on? the normals are probably flipped.

Thanks Acid, yeah, I just reapplied the texture now too, seems a lot easier than reopening a file :/

@honestdom Not really sure what backface culling is or where to find it; however I've checked the normals, and they are facing the right way.. I think it's just glitchy..
