This course will look at the fundamentals of rendering in Arnold. We'll go through the different light types available, cameras, shaders, Arnold's render settings and finally how to split an image into render passes (AOV's), before we then reassemble it i

Non Standard Polygons

I'm trying to get into game asset creating, but it's proving to be a daunting task. Are there any good sources of free information out there?

that's not the question though. I made a simple exploding canister in Maya. It contains a cylander type object, with another on on top, with the tops extruded.. I combined the mesh, exported into OBJ. When I loaded the file into zbrush I got a message saying the object contains so many non standard polygons. How do I go about fixing this in Maya?

from zbrush site "ZBrush requires your model to have only one set of UV coordinates"

No offence to you, but why are you using ZBrush at all at this stage? If your looking to create game assets I suggest you leave ZBrush alone and concentrate on low poly modeling in Maya.

Trying to learn ZBrush and maya at the same time when you don't know ether will be a frustrating and very very long process.

Meh, it's not that bad. I've got a lot of basic functions down. I can create a model in maya, get it into zbrush, edit it, and get it back into maya pretty east, it's just stuff along the way that I'm missing out. Right now I'm primarily focusing on Maya though, lol.

I'm only in it for fun, and what not, I have no hopes in becoming a professional, my drawings consists of stick men, haha...Although I'm getting decent at Maya for someone like me. haha

Thing is I'm missing information about stuff. Like maps saving, and using layers in zbrush instead of one layer to do all the detailing. Also tons of questions on maps, and exporting. Don't know how to export a low res model, and all that yet.
