Maya for 3D Printing - Rapid Prototyping
In this course we're going to look at something a little different, creating technically accurate 3D printed parts.

Aston Martin - One-77

Its been actually quite a while when I modeled a car and the more time passes or less time you spend on that it is very hard to get into that again. Its a nightmare. But I felt that I need to model a vehicle again and this time it should be something modern.

I was basically looking for good blueprints and came across the One-77, which is a 2011 build. Unfortunately there are not many good refs of the details but I still gave it a try and started modeling.

I have no idea how long this will take since ill do it in spare time and itll keep me busy for a while so patience is the keyword.... user added image

Anyway...here are the first screenshots of the mesh ive got so far.

C&C is of course welcome! user added image

Cheers.

Flow looks good so far. Gotta say, I've never seen anyone start from the back of a car before. If you do the interior, leave out that stupid "Power, beauty, soul" crap user added image

EDIT: Looked around to see if I could find any detail shots for you, couldn't, but found a couple galleries.

No detail shots but decent sizes, so you can somewhat see the details:

Crap sizes, but quite a few angles, and a cutaway view in case you decide to go that far with it:

Thanks guys. And thanks Acid for your effort user added image

I already have most of the images since there are only a view press images availabe and the car seems to be rare there will not be more. Funny thing..by looking for the taillight i have found the company which obviously did the plastic moldings for the taillights and they have some midres detail shots of the taillights so at least I have an idea of how the heck that looks inside. user added image

Oh and I actually started with the fenders and then went to the back user added image

Was that a question ? If so my tools are: Extrude, Fill Hole, Bridge, Split Polygon, Create Edge Loop...and of course moving vertices ! Oh and sometimes I use the sculpt geometry aswell when I need to relax or smooth some areas.

I tried but my results where not convincing. I would love to do the car in NURBS or at least have some good workflow for the curves etc...but I couldnĀ“t figure that out and so I ended up with the standart way of chasing vertices all around XYZ! user added image

Mesh looks ok to me still, a few things seem a tad uneven, but nothing that would really mess up the flow.

Would have to see it smoothed to say much more, so get it smoothed :p
