Image plane problem

Hi, im new to maya and im trying to set up a reference to work with...
Problem is, when i import an image plane i cant control its position or size...
And when i open other people's files with image planes, they come out blank...

Thanks for the help in advance user added image

View > Select camera... check in the attribute editor in the image plane tab.
The reason the other files have blank image planes is you don't have the image files, or they are in the wrong place.
