Vertex World Position?

i've recently made the switch from 3d max to maya, what i was use to was the ability to select a vertex and enter the world position in the move tool to move it to where i want, is it possible to do this in Maya?

i have had a look with the move tool and haven't been able to find a place where i can see and enter world coordinates when a vertex is selected, is there such a option in maya?

thanks

You can do this by using the component editor. Window>General Editors>Component Editor. Select the "Polygons" tab. There you'll get the vertex.x, y, and z positions in world space. Select the vertices that you'd like to edit, and they'll show up in there.

Hope this helps.
