I think i might be the only one who's seen it do far on this board that actually liked the movie. Aside from a few minor inconsistencies I found it to be rather enjoyable. I think that people go into this movie thinking that it is in fact another Alien movie. It is, but it's not. I can't really say anymore about it without spoiling anything. As a big fan of the series I watched it and I enjoyed it. It gets a kirby thumbs up from me (o'_')b

Watched in IMAX yesterday. I thought it was well done; however, there where things when compared to alien that are inaccurate. The inhabitants of the Derelict Spacecraft craft in this prequel are alot smaller than the one we saw in Alien. The one in Alien was like 5 times bigger. In this prequel, they are not much bigger than the humans. Maybe they get bigger in the second prequel.

There where alot of things that kinda echoed the design of the face huggers and egg pods we all come to know.

Character wise, not much going on here. The movie was way too fast paced for any real character development, as opposed to the original which was really slow paced.

Design wise, I still don't get why Scott went for the clean stylistic look. They should have kept within the style of the original.

As far as story/plot is concerned, there are some really intriguing things revealed that explain how the alien species came about. You get to see all of the situations that were responsible making it happen.

The movie is not bad by any means, and amazingly, it actually plays out alot like original does, just alot faster paced.

Based on the reviews I was going to wait for the dvd but maybe I will go see it at a matinee. I really was excited about this movie as I feel Alien is one of the best scifi movies of all time. I was sorry to hear about the plot short falls. But it sounds like visually it is outstanding.

Even being as ill as I am I loved this film - need some more character development - but enjoyed it alot more than MIB 3 which was very poor.

The SFX`s were great.

Its no Alien but still maybe if it was about 20 min longer

I went and saw it on the weekend. I enjoyed the visuals and just over looked the many plot gaffs. Don't want to give away spoilers but maybe in a later thread we can share some comments on the interstellar sized holes in the plot and what has to be the most retarded crew of "scientists" ever assembled.

For instance the exobiologist that goes oh look it's a cute alien snake creature with viscous teeth hissing menacingly at me, maybe I should try to pet it.

Or the entire science team that effectively take off their helmets, take a deep breath and proclaim - Oh good! There is air on this planet!

But, I really enjoyed the robot David's part.
