areaLightFog

hi guys how to use area light to create light fog?
i am maya 2011 user, so far i know light fog only can be create in spot light. i was think what if i want to create create light fog shape like rectangle , how am i gonna do...pls guide me tq u all

I don't think you can attach a light fog node to an area light. Also, the Maya fog effects don't play very well with MR in my experience and I think they're dependent on using depth map shadows. You can use the mi parti volume assigned to a primitive that envelopes your scene and then you can use whatever light you want. Details here --->
