Boat wakes

Hello,

Anyone knows how to make boat wakes of an object floating on an ocean ?

I believe Fluids do this automaticly for you, tho I'm not very familliar with them, so...

Well, the thing is that the ocean is a shader and there's no particles emitted. I guess i'll have to use a fluid shape which emitts particles and maybe make it displace as the ocean does ?

Do u thing i'm true ?

I saw a similar discussion on the A|W Maya discussion boards and here is a quote:

I would try using "Wake" Dynamics. After making a Particle Grid, Goto: Fields>Create Air>[Option Box], Wake.
You will need to configure you Dynamic Relationship, but this should get you on the right trail.

Another approach is to make the water (Plane) a Softbody, and add Springs. Then Connect the boat (Passive rigidBody) as a collision object and animate it through the water.
Combine various Effects (Power permitting) Note: I'm using Maya Complete 2.5. no fluid effects
