Can't see z-rotation

I am creating a skeleton and I want to correctly set the joint orientations. However, I only see x, y, and w instead of x, y, and z axis. I have attached a screenshot to explain what I mean. How do I display x, y, and z axis? I fixed this before a while back but I can't remember how I did it.

On the bottom left of the work area there is a x, y, z axis indicator. Mine showed x, y, w. To fix the problem I restarted Maya by opening the program, not by clicking on a Maya file. Once Maya started, in the empty workspace you should see the axis indicator is now x, y, z. Now open the file in question and everything should be OK.
