Rigging electric cable connected to Character

Hi,
I am rigging a very basic character right now but I have a little problem. The Character has an electric cable coming out of his back that can be plugged into a power outlet and I'm not sure how to rig this cable.
It needs to be locked in the back of the character and the other end needs to be movable.
I would prefer it if the rest of the cable would be dynamic, considering the cable is longer than a normal tail.
Should I work with Joints?

I am still a beginner so a detailed explanation would be great user added image

Thanks in advance.
